About
me and this site
This
site is intended for creative people who are interested
in knitting as a creative process. In last several years,
the interest in knitting has significantly increased. Some
people use it to get rid of stress caused by todays
fast life, some people are tired of wearing standard clothes
and are looking for ways to express their individuality,
and some people just knit for fun after they make
a sweater with their own hands, they realize that it is,
in fact, a very interesting and fun thing, and that knitting
has a huge potential and possibilities for self-expression.
I
learned knitting when I was 12. I accidentally had a chance
to have a glimpse at a knitting manual that my school friend
owned, and decided to try to make my first row. I liked
it so much that I kept kitting, so there was a second row,
then the third one, and so on I have been knitting
ever sense. I did not have my own knitting manual, so I
had to experiment and learn by mistakes, empirically, as
they say. In a week I started to knit my first sweater.
And from that time, knitting becomes a wonderful miracle-making
tool for me: for any occasion I had a new beautiful dress,
later when children were born, I never had any problems
with the clothes for my kids because I could knit them...
And
every time, starting something new, I felt an excitement
because it is a real magic, you know: you hold a
yarn in your hands, and then in 1-2 weeks you have an incredibly
beautiful knitted thing, and you cant get your eyes
out of it, you love wearing it, it makes you happy. And
every subsequent thing that you knit, you want to make even
better, more beautiful. My desire to create never left me.
When I was finishing one thing, I was already thinking about
the next one, even more complicated and even more interesting.
I
am a philologist by education, and most of my professional
life I worked as a teacher and a psychologist with children
7-18 years old. I always wanted to help them to feel the
passion for creativity, and here my hobby again was very
useful. With the children I worked with, we were knitting
beautiful things, we took part in many competitions, we
won many prizes and we were very happy. Now I am 50, but
I can not even imagine myself without my hobby, which now
became my full time job. I am always willing to experiment
and to create unusual, beautiful things. I have so many
ideas that I sometimes wonder will my life be long
enough to try them all?
I
often work 15-18 hours a day, but I never feel bored. Yes,
I can get tired physically, but the next morning when I
wake up, I am thinking about a new creation.
I
was born and lived most of my life in Russia, and several
years ago I have moved to a Mediterranean island of Cyprus
which became my second motherland. And I live and knit here,
and take part in various competitions. In 2005, I participated
in 30-th Cyprus International Fair, where I have met some
well-known clothes designers from Europe, and saw a huge
interest for my collection, and was invited to many other
international exhibitions in Europe.
But
for me, the biggest and the most important feeling of accomplishment
is when I see a happy woman wearing one of my creations.
I know how important it is for a woman to feel a unique
and very beautiful, and when I can help her to achieve that,
my heart sings.
Thank
you for visiting my site!
Sincerely,

Zoya Woolwitch
